Autumn Displays

Don’t miss the great variety of live displays at the Autumn Show & Horse Trials.  From honey shows, vegetable competitions, as well as a range of vintage vehicles on display, there is something for everyone. 

South of England Honey Show

Come and see the marvellous honey creations in the Norfolk Pavilion entered including beeswax, mead, honey cakes, plus equipment and more, and learn from, and buy direct from, the producers right on your doorstep.

Horticulture

An array of vegetable, fruit and flower competition entries will be on view in a celebration of the Autumn Harvest including a flower arranging competition which is open to all. 

Also, our Charity of the Year Veteran’s Growth will be selling a mixture of perennials, bedding and shrubs.

Find them in the Robins Building.

NEW National Vegetable Society Championships

Held regionally each year, the Autumn Show & Horse Trials will be hosting the 2024 National Vegetable Society Championships, with competitors from all over the UK. Find them in the Abergavenny Building.

Admire the entries and winners in classes including leeks, beans, beetroot, cauliflower, onions and potatoes.

Women's Institute Competitions

There will be a wide range of entries on display in the Young Farmers Clubs Building from local groups for the WI competitions which cover co-operative cookery, a decorated gingerbread house, novelty Christmas jumpers, embroidery, making a child’s toy, and more, this year within the theme of ‘Ready, Steady, Christmas’. It’s always an inspiring part of the show to visit.

Vintage Vehicles & Scammell Rally

Get up close to a collection of vintage agricultural vehicles and steam traction engines. Plus a Scammell Rally will take place at the show on Sunday.

Countryside Hub

Don’t miss the opportunity to visit our Countryside Hub to have a go at milking Clover, our life sized dairy cow, or take part in other children’s activities. You can also find out about the work of the charity including our very popular Loan-a-Lamb scheme for primary schools and our educational grants.

Kids Activity Trail

Collect your trail sheet from our Countryside Hub and complete the challenges around the show.  Take your sheet back to the Hub for your sticker!

Bushcraft Workshops

Experience the thrill of the great outdoors with the Linden Outdoorsman who will be running a talk and demonstration ‘A Journey Through the History of Fire’, teaching modern fire lighting methods and tinders all the way back to the earliest known methods dating back 200,000 years.
Running from 11:30 – 12:30 and 2:30 – 3:30.

Also get involved in the Introduction to Natural Cordage workshop, where you can make a bracelet from natural fibres.
10:00 – 10:30 and 1:30 – 2:00.

Young Farmers' Club

Hear about the Sussex Young Farmers’ Club and see and judge their scarecrow making competition entries.  Plus there will be activities for little ones.
